Community Engagement
At Kinsterna, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the environment to the heart of our local community. By fostering meaningful partnerships and adopting sustainable practices, we ensure that our success is shared with the people and places that make our estate so special.
Over 60% of the ingredients used in our kitchens are sourced from local farmers and artisans, including free-range meats, cheeses, and smoked trout. This not only elevates the dining experience for our guests but also sustains the livelihoods of our neighbors, promoting economic growth in the region. Additionally, we encourage our suppliers to adopt eco-friendly practices, aligning their operations with our environmentally conscious ethos.
Approximately 70% of our employees are locals, reinforcing our dedication to regional economic development and creating job opportunities within the community. Beyond employment, we provide our staff with training on sustainable
practices, empowering them to become ambassadors of environmental stewardship both at work and in their daily lives.
Kinsterna plays an active role in assisting those in need. We donate surplus produce from our orchards, along with unused kitchen equipment, to local food banks and charities. These contributions help vulnerable households, fostering a sense of solidarity and care that lies at the core of our philosophy.
We take pride in showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and unique attractions. Guests are encouraged to visit the historic watermill in the nearby village of Talanta, one of only 11 remaining in the area. This remarkable site offers a glimpse into traditional craftsmanship, allowing visitors to connect with the region’s history and spirit.
Similarly, the awe-inspiring Kastania Cave provides an unforgettable experience for nature lovers, highlighting the geological wonders of the region. By promoting these destinations, we help sustain local tourism and preserve the treasures of Monemvasia for future generations
