Biodiversity
Kinsterna’s verdant 25-acre estate, nestled in the heart of Monemvasia, serves as a vibrant sanctuary for over 250 native plant species, including rare and endemic varieties. This lush expanse of olive groves, vineyards, and orange orchards encapsulates the unparalleled biodiversity of the region—an area hailed as “The Eldorado of Nature” by journalist Lina Giannakou in Kathimerini.
Our dedication to biodiversity is evident in every facet of our estate. Kinsterna is home to thriving beehives that produce fresh honey and a farm where guests can meet horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, and hens that provide fresh eggs daily. This farm-to-table approach extends to our lush orchards, where guests relaxing by the pool can savor freshly picked fruits, including exotic kumquats, guava, or even bananas—a delightful testament to our commitment to sustainable cultivation.
Kinsterna collaborates closely with the Municipality of Monemvasia to preserve the area’s natural beauty through initiatives like the Study and Signage of Old Trails.Restoring and marking these ancient paths allows guests to explore the lush landscapes of Monemvasia while safeguarding its cultural and ecological heritage. One of the offered experiences is a scenic guided hike along these trails, culminating in a stop at the village of Koulentia. Here, visitors can enjoy a coffee at the old manor house of Kinsterna’s owners, adding a historical and local charm to the journey.
Organic farming methods and a meticulous approach to land stewardship define Kinsterna’s operations. From the fresh produce served in our kitchens to our award-winning wines and olive oils, each product reflects the harmony between luxury and responsibility. Beyond our estate, we actively promote regional biodiversity by encouraging exploration of nearby landmarks like the Kastania Cave and the wetlands of Laconia, which are rich in unique flora and fauna.
Kinsterna stands as a beacon of biodiversity and sustainable tourism, ensuring that the “Eldorado of Nature” thrives for generations to come. We invite our guests to embrace this connection with the natural world, leaving not just footprints but lasting contributions to preserving this exceptional ecosystem
